Persecuted for Jesus

¹⁶ You will be betrayed by your parents, brothers and sisters, relatives, and friends. They will execute some of you. ¹⁷ Everyone will hate you because of my name. ¹⁸ Still, not a hair on your heads will be lost. ¹⁹ By holding fast, you will gain your lives.

Luke 21:16-18

Jesus predicts a time when the world will come to hate you based on the life you choose live in following Him.

Thankfully I haven't experience persecution like the other brothers and sisters  have around the world. I'm not sure what I would do if my life was threaten because of the faith I have. Will I keep my faith pure, or will I fail like Peter when being confronted at gunpoint. Thought I say I am persecuted when following Christ's morality, the reality of the point is I'm not. I'm too comfortable in this country and with all this religious freedom to know that following Christ is sacred. I become self centered and ignorant on how thousands are dying for Christ's name. I need to pray for those martyrs and the group of believers that are persecuted. 

Forgive me Jesus for being self centered and comfortable in this country. I do take it as a blessing that there are no guns being pointed at me for my faith. I ask that you breath in me a sense of urgency, so that I would pray more fervently for those who are dying for you. Jesus keep my faith pure when/if the time comes.
