28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?”
29 Paul replied, “Short time or long—I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.”
Acts 26:28-29
In every opportunity, even to the point where his life is at stake, Paul is preaching to an audience about Jesus. Paul gives his testimony of how Jesus saved him from sin regardless of whether the people around him wanted to hear it or not. King Agrippa makes a remark whether or not Paul can persuade him to be a believer.
Paul's account in front the Sanhedrin gives some valid points on how we as Christians should go about sharing our faith. Whether Paul's life was at stake, he shared his testimony with the crowd even to the point of whether others wanted to hear it or not. Paul was not trying to persuade someone, but simply gave his life account of what happened on the road to Damascus. Lastly, Paul prayed for everyone who was persecuting him that God would change their hearts. Of all people, Paul was an eloquent speaker able to debate or convince others, but in the case of salvation, that strictly comes from God. A short or long message from Paul would not have mattered since it is always God who chooses us from damnation. I am thankful that God chose me... This verse reminds me that I still have many friends that don't know Christ, and it challenges me and urges me more to pray for the lost.
Jesus I pray for my friends who don't know you. Please help them to know you and to accept you as Lord and Savior. Rule over my life to take every opportunity to share the gospel with unbelievers. Forgive me for my lack of obedience in this matter. I want to serve you the best I can.
In Jesus Name
Amen.
