Cost of Being a Disciple

³³ In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.

Luke 14:33

Jesus states that if we cannot give up everything we cannot follow him. Following Jesus requires us to be completely empty of ourselves. Our desires, family, and even our lives are on the line when it comes to following Christ. 

Up until recent, I didn't understand what it meant to allow Jesus to be Lord over my life. In high school and even into my college years. I would say Jesus is my Lord and Savior, but didn't really mean it. To allow Jesus to be Lord, means that I give up all my freedoms to obey and follow Him. If it means that Jesus commands me to die for his sake, then so be it. I still struggle with  allow Jesus to be Lord in my life, but I do acknowledge that giving Jesus rights to my life is required for salvation. If I say I'm a Christian, I need to forfeit my life to Him, otherwise can I really say I am a Christian?

Jesus Rule over my life. Be the center of my very soul. May all my actions be delegated by you Spirit. Forgive me for being prideful and selfish.
