The Harvest

35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”

~John 4:35-38

Jesus again is making best use of the situation to make a lesson to the disciples. Jesus is speaking about a partnership for a sower and a reaper. Both the sower and a reaper should reap the benefits. One is not greater than the other.

Though I don't have a problem with what happened during missions, this verse is still a great reminder that there is so much work to be done in Indonesia. Our team has definitely planted the seeds, but it will be up to the holy spirit to move and allow growth in the hearts of those who are coming to know God. Likewise at Pathway there is a bountiful harvest waiting to be reaped. From the beginning of the year, there has been so much growth within singles ministry. How many of those seekers don't know God? They show up at our front steps waiting to hear the words of Christ's love for us.

Jesus, help me to have boldness to share with those who come to Pathway. Help me to have discernment in which individuals are seeking. I pray that you would be with each of the workers at Pathway, help them to be filled with the spirit and allow your words, actions and love overflow within them.

Jesus name Amen
