Lukewarmness

16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

Revelations 3:16-18

Of all the churches that Jesus addresses, I feel like the church in Laodicea reflects my life most accurately. Jesus points out that lukewarmness is someone who is comfortable with their life. The people described in Laodicea are blessed with riches as city was the hub of commerce at the time. The church was too comfortable and did not do anything with their blessings or even attempt to live their lives sold out for God.

I examine my life and realize I'm so blessed to be living in this country with a stable job. I definitely do take Gods blessing for granted, as I could be doing so much more with the wealth he has given me. Not only that, but I don't put myself out there for the Holy Spirit to move. I don't take these chances because I don't want to offend or oppose other people thoughts. San Jose is much like Laodicea and with this abundance I became impudent to living a soldout life for Christ. I need to press forward and make that effort to grow. This spiritual race does not stop until I am dead.

Jesus help me to live more radically for you. Let me not fall into the lifestyle of being comfortable and not growing spiritual, as you have said that when we do these things you will spit us out. If I am not growing in faith, I am falling away from you. I pray Jesus that you would allow me to love you all the more, and use these blessings to further your kingdom.

In Jesus Name
Amen.
